Biography
Anthony Tyrone Evans popularly known as Tony Evans is an American Christian Pastor, author, speaker, minister and television broadcaster born to Mr Arthur Evans and Mrs Evelyn Evans on September 10, 1949 in Baltimore, Maryland United States.
At the age of 24, Tony Evans was contacted by a radio show producer from Houston asking for preaching contents to put on his program for free and that was the beginning of public broadcasting for Tony Evans as he preached to an unseen audience in Houston whilst he was in Dallas.
In 1972, 1976 and 1982, Evans earned a BA at Carver College, Th.M. and Th.D, at Dallas Theological Seminary respectively.
Ministry
Pastor Tony Evans founded the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, in 1976 with only 10 members gathering at his home. In 1981, he co-founded the Urban Alternative with his late wife Mrs Lois Evans who helped him to expand the outreach and growth of the ministry following frequent requests and demands for Evans’ sermons.
He taught Evangelism and black Church studies at DTS and served on its Board of Incorporate Members. Baylor University named Evans one of the 12 most effective preachers in the English-Speaking World and in 2017, Evans launched the Tony Evans Training Center, an online platform for Christian leaders who do not have the opportunity to attend a seminary.
Evans is the founder and senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas Texas and has served as senior pastor for over 40 years watching its members grow from 10 to over 10,000. Tony’s preaching is now worldwide with over 1,400 radio outlets to his broadcast airings in over 130 countries reaching millions across the globe each week.

Tony Evans Family
Pastor Tony Evans was married to his late wife Lois Irene Evans and they had four children together: Chrystal, Priscilla, Anthony Jr and Jonathan. They also have a total of 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His wife Lois Irene Evans died in 2019.
