Brandon Lake is a Christian worship singer, songwriter, and worship pastor from the United States. Lake is a worship pastor of Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and a part of the Maverick City Music collective.

Biography

Michael  Brandon Lake grew up in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where his father was the pastor of a new church. Lake enjoyed playing the guitar as a child, which his father encouraged by teaching him a few simple chord progressions. Lake learned to play the guitar by watching YouTube videos of Third Day and Chris Tomlin. Lake accompanied the worship team at his church during his adolescence and was later hired by Seacoast Church as a worship leader for their college ministry.

Lake heard about Jesus from a young age because he was born into a Christian family and grew up with a Pastor for a father. Lake’s music is an important aspect of his life because he is the worship leader at Seacoast Church in Charleston. Lake’s music career would become public in 2015, with a crowdfunding campaign for his first studio album. Lake’s debut studio album, “Closer,” was released independently the following year.

Lake signed with Bethel Music in January 2019 and released his version of Tasha Cobbs Leonard’s hit tune “This Is a Move” on the label. Lake got the GMA Dove Award Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year for his services as a songwriter on “This Is a Move” in the 2019 GMA Dove Award. Lake received his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “This Is a Move” at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

In 2020, he released House of Miracles, his second studio album, which included the singles “I Need a Ghost” and “Just Like Heaven.” In the United States, House of Miracles peaked at number nine on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart. He also appeared on Elevation Worship’s blockbuster tune “Graves into Gardens,” which became both acts’ first number one Hot Christian Songs chart record and reached at number two on the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
