Christian leaders offer condolences over Charles Stanley’s demise

Christian leaders offer condolences over Charles Stanley’s demise. Dr. Charles Stanley, influential former senior First Baptist Church pastor, former Southern Baptist Convention president, prominent Evangelical broadcaster, and founder of In Touch Ministry died on Tuesday morning at age 90.

Following the Tuesday Facebook announcement of his passing on by In Touch Ministry, several church leaders have publicly reacted to his death, each offering their condolences and tributes. Bishop T.D Jakes, The Potters House founder took to Instagram to give his condolences. He wrote:

“He has been a staple in the Christian community for years. Our condolences to his son Pastor Andy Stanley and the entire family. The church has lost a general, but the family has lost a patriarchal icon. Our thoughts and prayers envelop you as you reflect on the memories he left behind to @FirstBaptistAtlanta, where he served for 51 years, and to the broader faith family.”

Bishop Dale Bronner, founder of Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral took to Twitter to offer his condolences. “My heart is saddened as our world loses another General in the faith, Dr. Charles Stanley. I first met Dr. Stanley in Megiddo, Israel in 1980. He has been a solid, consistent Bible teacher and stalwart all these years. God used him to help saturate the earth with the Word,” he wrote.

Joyce Meyer, President of Joyce Meyers ministry wrote on Facebook “Charles Stanley, a spiritual legacy that will last for generations. I am grateful for the preaching ministry of this man and his commitment to the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus.”

Other church leaders include Lakewood Church Joel Osteen, Free Chapel Church Jentezen Franklin, Pastor Harvest Church Greg Laurie, First Baptist Dallas Pastor Robert Jeffress, South Baptist Convention President Bart Barber,  and hosts of other Christian leaders.
