Pastor Dollar teaches us in this about experience and why we have to learn from the experience of others. We have to learn about the signs of emotional maturity and why it’s so important to mature emotionally in our lives. If we leave our emotions alone and don’t grow in them, they become a pretty powerful force that we have to deal with when attacked by negative things. So it’s important that as Christian people, we not only know how vital it is to mature spiritually, but it’s also important for us to mature emotionally. When you’re going down the path of emotional maturity, how do you know that?
1. We talked about being flexible and that if plan A doesn’t work, there’s a plan B, and with God, there’s a plan C, D, E, F, and G. Okay, he’ll never give up on you, and you don’t give up on him.
2. The second way to notice that is to take ownership and responsibility. Emotionally mature people take ownership and responsibility for their stuff; they don’t play the blame game.
3. You know that, uh, you don’t need to know everything. We have to feel comfortable saying that we don’t know something. Wisdom is available for those who don’t know everything, so wisdom is literally knowing what to do when you don’t know what to do. When you’re in a situation where you don’t know what to do, it’s so awesome to trust God, and that wisdom is now being made available.
4. You seek to learn and grow from every opportunity, regardless of whether it is within the last three years. Look for every opportunity to learn something from that opportunity so you can continue to grow and mature and you don’t give weight to your emotions so they can come and just beat you down. It’s about how, as Christians, we can’t let our emotions beat us down.
