Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Creflo Dollar titled “The Gift of Righteousness.” The text for the message is from the book of Romans 4:1–8. Pastor Creflo Dollar teaches us the three meanings of righteousness.
- “Righteousness” means standing right before God.
- “Righteousness” is the ability to stand in the presence of our father as if we never sinned (because when we received the gift of righteousness, Jesus was not looking at anything else but the righteousness; he saw us through the gift of righteousness).
- “Righteousness” is the ability to stand in the presence of our father without any sense of guilt, fear, shame, or inferiority.
When we receive the gift of righteousness by faith, we will rule over fear, guilt, and shame. The gift of righteousness is our new identity. When we believe that we are righteous, then we start doing right. Therefore, if our behavior can get us to stop receiving and believing that we are righteous, then we don’t know who we are.
If we can’t be righteous based on our own efforts and works, then we’ll understand what it means to stand in the righteousness of God. If we get blessed based on good behavior, then we earn the credit, but if the blessing of God is a gift, then Jesus gets the credit. We do not have to earn righteousness; it is given to us as a gift through Jesus Christ.
God imputes righteousness without works, but he will not impute sin to the righteous, which means God will not hold sin against us. The day we made Jesus Christ the Lord of our lives was the day we received the gift of righteousness. If you believe the right things, then you will live the right way. Wrong believing is what causes wrong living. People live according to what they believe in. When you don’t know the truth, you will live in sin.
