A gift is something that you don’t work for, and in a lot of cases, a gift is something you don’t deserve. The Bible made it clear that righteousness is a gift. He points out that we are still immature in our understanding of the life of righteousness by faith rather than righteousness by works.Most Christians understand righteousness as something they’ve done to be righteous, but that’s wrong; we are righteous because of what Jesus has done. Because we have accepted Jesus, we’re righteous because of him.
Many of us want the power of God operating in our lives, and in order for that to happen, we’ve got to understand the gospel of Christ, because the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation. We have to understand that we are righteous because we have been declared righteous. The gospel is the good news about Jesus; it is unmerited favor that is extended to us by Jesus.
We are righteous because we have accepted Jesus Christ, not because of what we have done. The gift of righteousness is found in the gospel of Christ.The gift of righteousness is made available by Jesus Christ, not because we earned it.
We receive the gift of righteousness through faith.Jesus Christ reigns in your life through the gift of righteousness.Therefore, if we want to reign over the bad situations in our lives, we need the gift of righteousness. We can’t get the gift without Jesus, not because of our handiwork.
Grace is not righteousness, power, or salvation; it makes righteousness, power, and salvation available.
