Theme – GOD OVER ALL

And seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He chooses.
Daniel 4:25

Recommended Reading: Isaiah 40:15-17

Most leaders of nations don’t have dreams of ruling the whole world—perhaps Adolf Hitler was a modern exception. But they often speak and act as if they are sovereign rulers of at least their own domains. In other words, the temptation to think of one as sovereign is always present. And not just for world leaders. We can view ourselves as sovereign over the nation of our own life if we aren’t careful.

An ancient ruler, Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, had plans to rule the part of the world to which he had access. It fell to Daniel the prophet to remind him this wasn’t true. God sent Nebuchadnezzar a dream showing the destruction of his kingdom and seven years of insanity and exile that awaited him until he learned that God rules in the kingdom of men and assigns human rule to whomever He wants. Thankfully, Nebuchadnezzar learned his lesson and humbled himself before the sovereignty of God.

Let God be the sovereign over your life. He gives grace to the humble as we recognize He is God over all (James 4:6).

To be God and sovereign are inseparable.
