They have released songs including “Graves Into Gardens,” “The Blessing” featuring Kari Jobe and “O Come to The Altar.” Elevation Worship’s songs are written and composed by Pastor Steven Furtick and Chris Brown, the Church’s worship leader.

In an interview with The Christian Post, Brown said that he was raised in the Church, as his father is a pastor. He and Steven Furtick have known each other since they were teenagers. He said: “It’s like a dream getting to still do that with him all these years later. I’ve been here for 15 years. I came about a year into the church being planted, and we’ve been writing songs, really since day one of myself coming on,”

About Steven Furtick, Brown said “That vision was always in his heart for Elevation to be a worshipping church, for Elevation to have songs that we’re writing and giving language to our people for what God’s doing here through our ministry,”

Announcing this New Album LION on Instagram, Elevation Worship wrote:

“The album we’ve spent the better part of the last year making. And as each song was written, the common theme continued: “one of these things is not like the other.”

For example, “LION” and “WHY” were written on the same day. Thunder and whispers. We held “WATER IS WILD” and “DANCING” and assumed they didn’t belong in the same room together. And what business would “BYE BYE BABYLON” have opening for “WHAT I SEE?”

But as you’ll find in the tracklist, we decided it was fitting these songs should co-exisit.

There’s a lyric in the song ‘LION’ that sings ‘like a lamb you suffered, but the lion has arose.’ Thank God for Jesus! Who did the unexpected when he took hell’s keys, not with a forceful militant attack, but through his own crucifixion. The Lion conquered by suffering as the sacrificial lamb.

We pray this album finds you on good days and bad ones. On mountains and in valleys. And we pray you hear the shout (🦁) of God’s authority and holiness as you listen, alongside the whisper of his approval and love for you (🐑)

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
Revelation 5:12
