The Emmanuel Baptist Church was organized in January 1973 under the visionary leadership of the REV. L. K. CURRY.
The church started with 10 charter members, this congregation grew within a year to over 700 members.
The church was first located in Morgan Park High School in Chicago. After 50 weeks worshiping in the school auditorium, Pastor Curry was lead to the church’s present location at 8301 South Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL.
FROM THIS CORNER MANY CHILDREN, YOUTH, YOUNG PEOPLE, AND ADULTS HAVE BEEN SENT FROM THIS CORNER TO BLESS EACH CORNER OF THE WORLD.
Beliefs
The Emmanuel Baptist Church hold the following beliefs as their statement of faith:
1. They Believe in God the maker of heaven and earth.
2. Lord Jesus Christ, who is God With Us, in the flesh who was born in the world to “seek and save the lost.”
3. They Believe that all persons are sinners, separated from God and stand in need of salvation given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
4. Holy Spirit, which is the presence of the Father and the Son Jesus Christ who dwells and
lives in those who confess their sin and ask for Christ to live in their lives.
5. Church. Our Lord Jesus said, “I will build my church.” The Church is the family of baptized
believers in Jesus Christ called to Worship (love God), Evangelize (reach those God loves), Fellowship (come together in love), Disciple (train and learn), and Ministry (Care for those God cares for).

ONIE W. JACKSON is the senor pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Onie is a Christian Educator, and the facilitator of the Minister’s Wives and Widows of Emmanuel. She coordinates the Emmanuel’sa yearly Woman’s Prayer Retreat in April. Come Share the Joy.
Onie is a graduate of Cohoma Community College, MS (Associate of Science). Wilberforce College, OH (Bachelor of Science). Governors State University, IL (Masters in Teaching). Jacksonville Theological Seminary, Jacksonsonville, FL (Doctor of Ministry in Christian Education)
Pastor Jackson is married to his loving and lovely wife Onie. and they have four young adult daughters.
