Fired Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz Says He ‘Had Some Major Lies’

Fired Hillsong Pastor Carl Lentz says he ‘had some major lies’ in a featured teaser for FX Network docuseries.

The global church former pastor who was fired in November 2020 from Hillsong Church NYC over “leadership issues” and moral misconduct says he “had some major lies” while publicly addressing for the first time his dismissal from the church.

Lentz, who was featured in the teaser for “The Secret of Hillsong,” a docuseries released by FX network also said, “The truth doesn’t go anywhere just because you cover it up.” He further said that “You do not want to be in this chair. I cannot stress it enough.”

Two episodes of the docuseries are set to premier on FX on May 19 at 10 p.m. ET. Two more episodes will premiere on May 26. The docuseries came months after the rumor of Lentz and his wife getting paid for their story. It is however yet to be disclosed if Lentz was paid for his appearance.

“I look forward to sharing our story, how I came to that conclusion, and I think it’s going to help a lot of people,” Lentz wife Laura wrote on Instagram. “I am so proud of my husband & for the responsibility he’s taken. Mostly I’m grateful for a man who humbled himself & didn’t try to defend himself, he has kept quiet publicly. And he has remained focused on the one thing that matters most — our family,” she added.

Nevertheless, the teaser attracted reactions from the Christian community. YouTube creator Brylan Riggs said he “find it kind of ironic that Carl Lentz is coming back onto the scene the same way he went out. Wanting to be in the limelight. There’s been zero information regarding what kind of healing or restoration Carl Lentz has been through,” he said.
