“[By faith Moses] considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward” (Hebrews 11:26). By faith he counted wealth as reproach because faith was so looking to the reward that he could taste it — and it was so good it made Egypt look ridiculously lousy.

“If you don’t value Jesus above everything else, you don’t have saving faith.”

That’s the way Paul talks, right? “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:8). That’s faith. That’s a miracle. Wouldn’t you all love to be like Paul?

You look at everything in this world and then look at Jesus and say, “You are truly precious.” “You are more precious to me, Jesus, than everything.” And this isn’t so that Bethlehem College & Seminary will be impressed.

“Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37). You either treasure Jesus above all, or you’re not saved. If you don’t value Jesus above everything else, you don’t have saving faith. Which means this business of reading the Bible supernaturally is of supreme importance.
