Verses two and three read ‘with me behold I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people; round about when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem and in that day I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people’
What is a cup of trembling? A cup of trembling is held in the hand of a man who is terrified to the core that he is about to be totally destroyed. A cup of trembling is when you know that you’re violating the law of God and judgment is coming your way.
