Today’s Scripture

Matthew 18:21–22, NIV

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”

Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.

Today’s Word

The apostle Paul had many opportunities to live offended. He said in his last letter to Timothy that although a man named Alexander had done him great harm, he knew God would pay him back. That’s a mature attitude. “I won’t let bitterness in or carry a chip on my shoulder. God is fighting my battles. God is my vindicator.”

We all have unfair things that happen. Too often, instead of forgiving the people who hurt us, instead of letting go of the wrong, we hold on to it and get bitter. You have to let it go. God knows what wasn’t fair, He knows who walked away, and He knows how to make it up to you. He knows how to bring you out better. When you feel the bitterness trying to take root, right then say, “God, I’m turning this over to You. I know that You are my vindicator. You’ll make my wrongs right. You said You would give me beauty for these ashes.”

Prayer for Today

Father, thank You that You see everything that has happened to me, every unfair thing. Thank You that I can let go of it and forgive quickly before bitterness can come in. I declare that You are my vindicator, and You will make my wrongs right. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
