Joel Osteen: Who’s the Boss?

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joel Osteen titled “Who’s the Boss?”

Pastor Joel teaches us in this message about who’s boss in our lives. The flesh wants to be in control of our lives, and it can be pride, selfishness, getting upset, or greed. We have to listen more to our spirit than our flesh; the flesh wants us to do the wrong things. The flesh wants to be in control, and it’s not going to be happy unless it gets its way and controls our lives. We are growing, and we’re learning that we don’t have to let our feelings (emotions) control us. As long as we allow our feelings to be the boss, they can limit how high we can go. The scripture talks about dying to the flesh, which means “we should not give in to what we feel. If we live on the shallow level of always trying to please our flesh, we will never discover what is really in us. In order for us to see our gifts, talents, and potential, we have to learn how to control our flesh. We can’t control our flesh by ourselves, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can. We have to go beyond the surface. If we get past the temporary pain of not allowing our flesh to control us and choose to follow the spirit, God will release more of his favor on our lives.

Too many people live on the surface, allowing their feelings and emotions to control their lives. The problem is that our feelings will lead us down the wrong path. We have to listen to the spirit and not to the flesh. God gave us the spirit so that we could be guided to the right path of life. The flesh likes to be comfortable, but if you’re always comfortable, you will never grow and become a better version of yourself.
