John Mark Comer: Biography, Age, Family, Ministry, And Net Worth

John Mark Comer is a pastor from the United States. He is a New York Times best-selling author based in Portland, Oregon.  Also, he is Bridgetown Church’s founding pastor for instruction and vision.

Biography

Comer was born and bred in the Bay Area in a Christian home; his father was a pastor on staff at one of America’s earliest megachurches.

Comer was a member of Telecast, a Christian love band led by Josh White. The Beauty of Simplicity (2003), Eternity Is Now (2005), and Quiet Revolution (2006) were the band’s three studio albums (2008).

Comer defines himself as a “introverted, gloomy, bookish reader, writer, and teacher,” yet his church resists categorization, admitting it is “an amazing conundrum.” On several issues, including hell (he’s an annihilationist), the preacher has deviated from traditional American evangelical beliefs.

Comer considers himself to be “conservative,” with traditional views on sexuality and the authority of scripture. However, he criticizes other conservatives who appear unwilling to engage in discourse with individuals who have opposing ideas.

Furthermore, despite being a vegan, he would not turn down a steak if provided one.

John Mark Comer Church

Comer is the founding pastor of Bridgetown Church, which is located right in the heart of Portland.
Comer founded Bridgetown Church in Portland with the simple intention of practicing the path of Jesus together.

He began his ministry at the age of 23 when he co-founded Solid Rock Church. It swiftly expanded into a megachurch, and his team implemented a multi-site concept. He eventually resigned from directing a team of 93 individuals and supervising numerous congregations. Instead, he concentrated on leading a single congregation, which he renamed Bridgetown Church.

Comer is currently the founder of the non-profit called “Practicing the Way.” The goal is to develop resources for discipleship and formation in post-Christian local churches.
