John Piper Sermons How Is the Church a Mature Man?

From the last message, Pastor john taught us that the work of evangelists and the apostles is aiming at the unity of the knowledge of the son of God. The unity is to bring about the manifest display of a mature man. The term “Mature man in green brings to mind the text in 1 Corinthians 13:9-12. This is an illustration of the imperfection of the church, until the imperfect passes away and we become mature. The mature man pictures the church as a full grown man, at the close of the age. The effect of becoming a mature man is that we become a complete body of Christ and each individual grows up to be matured in Christ. What Apostle Paul is trying to point out from the scripture is the individual impact of attaining unity in the body of Christ.
