Josh Howerton is an American pastor, speaker and author. He is the senior pastor of Lake Pointe Church located in Rockwall, Texas.
Josh Howerton Biography
Pastor Howerton was born in Texas, in the United States of America. He was born into a Christian background. His grandfather was a Baptist minister who served throughout his ministry. His father was also a pastor.
Although he came from a Christian background, he did not give his life to Christ until he was 16. His youth pastor invited him to preach for the first time and that was his first preaching experience.
Today, Pastor Howerton is the senior pastor of LakePointe Chuch. Josh is most passionate about making disciples at Lakepointe Church, training leaders, and planting churches through the Strategic Launch Network.
The Lakepointe’s church planting network has planted and continues to coach over 40 churches in predominantly secular cities throughout the United States.

Education
Josh graduated from Union University with a degree in Theological Studies and went to Southern Seminary.
Family Life
Jana Howerton is Josh’s wife. The couple met on a blind date and have been married ever since. Together they have three children;Â Eliana, Felicity Hope, and Hudson.
The couple served together at The Bridge Church in Nashville, TN for 10 years before joining Lake Pointe Church.
Ministry
Josh is the Senior Pastor of Lakepointe Church, a multisite (and multilingual) church with 6 campuses in Dallas, TX. Before Joining LakePointe, he was the senior pastor of The Bridge Church for ten years. Steve Stroope of lakePointe church was his mentor.
However, Pastor Steve Stroope was then the senior pastor of LakePointe church and he was looking for a successor. The two developed a relationship and he became Josh’s spiritual father.
In 2018, Steve reached out to Josh about being the senior pastor of LakePointe Church. Josh and his wife turned down the offer because they were settled about retiring at their church.
Steve knew he was passionate for church planting, especially in urban centers and he persisted in his request. Josh honored Steve’s invitation to come and see LakePointe’s Church planting strategies. It was after the visit that something stirred in him. According to Josh,
“The Lord started to be like, Man, your job is to leverage your life for the greatest kingdom profit possible. At least consider this.”
Finally, after several supernatural encounters the couple changed their mind and made a decision. They accepted LakePointe’s invitation and left The Bridge.
In February 2019, Josh moved to LakePointe with his family. He was the co-pastor with Steve for one year and he then became the senior pastor in February 2020.
Books
Josh is also an author and has co-authored a bible study guide. The book is titled The Truth; Engaging the Foundations of the Faith. The Truth Bible Study Book helps disciples answer the question “What does a disciple believe?” It uses teaching, questions, conversation, exercises, and individual study to facilitate transformational discipleship.
He co-authored the book with Craig Etheredge. Other books co-authored by Josh include:
