Joyce Meyer: Love, Joy and Self-control (Pt 2)

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Joyce Meyer titled “Love, Joy, and Self-Control.”

Our whole goal is to please God; it is not all about us. If we do not focus on love for the rest of our lives, we will not have any other sin problems, because if we walked in line with God, who doesn’t sin and is love, any sin anywhere is because we are not paying attention to love.

Kindness is a hard one to find in the world today. People are pretty crude and rude in this world; they just don’t have manners. It’s not that hard to be a little more kind to people, and joy comes from being thankful too. If you’re having a bad day and you’re unhappy because you’re thinking about what you don’t have and what people are not doing for you, you have to turn it around.

Thank God every morning for several different things, and when you keep your mind on what you do have, you can be happy.

Maturity and growing up in God, which we have to do in order to display these fruits of the spirit, take going through some hard stuff because that is where we grow. If you have been hurt, that is when we become sensitive to what other people are feeling and start being nice and kind to them because we have been there in the past.

Joy is connected to peace; you can be going through something terrible, but you can still have joy because we have peace, which is God taking care of it, and the bible tells us “that the joy of the Lord is our strength.” The joy of the Lord is something that gives us strength.

When you are sad, it’s easy not to feel strong; you have to think of something you are thankful for, and that’s what the devil is trying to steal from us. That’s how important joy is.
