Joyce Meyer: Parable of the Rich Young Fool (Part 2)

We bring to you today’s message from Pastor Joyce Meyer, which is titled “Parable of the Rich Young Fool (Part 2).” The text for this message is from Luke 12:16.

Pastor Joyce tells us the danger of self-will: when we start to do things by ourselves without involving God, it is very dangerous. But if everything revolves around God, you will prosper and have plenty of rest and peace. When God gives you something, you have to be very careful that you don’t get to the point where you think you’re a possessor instead of a steward. No matter how much money God has blessed you with, you’re not the owner; you’re a steward of it, and God expects you to do with it what he tells you to do.

If you have a position of authority in the company where you work, you have power, but not the power to mistreat people. You have the authority to go there and represent God to them and treat them the way Jesus would treat them. People with power very often abuse that power, thinking that because they are powerful they can do anything they want to. We don’t have to allow ourselves to become so proud of what we have because when we become proud, God will take the possession away from us.

Staying straight with God is a full-time job; we have to be on guard, watch, and pray because the devil is alive and he’s constantly trying to use things to derail us. No matter what we have in this life, we should not compromise our moral values just to keep it. God wants to bless us because we are his children, but he also wants us to keep him first in our lives no matter how much we have achieved. To keep him first and obey him most, we must be spiritually mature. We have to watch ourselves and live according to God’s will.
