Lakewood Church Continues to Provide Relief to Texans After Hurricane Beryl
Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, continues to provide relief to Texas residents impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
In a social media post, the church’s senior pastor, Joel Osteen, announced their efforts on Tuesday, highlighting the distribution of food, water, and offering a cool respite for hundreds of Texans.
“Yesterday, we were honored to deliver food and water to over 400+ disabled veterans and their families,” the post, accompanied by a video clip of the church team supplying some essentials read.
The church also reported hundreds visiting their cooling center to escape the heat, and over 40,000 bottles of water were distributed through a drive-thru service.
Lakewood Church will again open its doors Wednesday at 8:00 am as a Cooling Center, providing a cool and safe space for those in need.
Hurricane Beryl landed in Texas on July 8th, causing widespread power outages and damage. Lakewood Church, along with other Christian relief organizations such as Hand of Hope, has mobilized aid for the victims.
Yesterday, Hand of Hope partnered with Mercy Chefs, a non-profit disaster and humanitarian relief organization, to deploy kitchens and serve hot meals to those impacted by the storm. They are also partnering with Global Teen Challenge to rebuild a center in Grenada damaged by the hurricane.
