Biography
Malachi was born on August 21, 2002 to his young teenage mother, Sarah Jakes. Sarah’s pregnancy rocked the Christian world because of who her father is. Her father, Bishop T.D Jakes is a popular preacher. That is why, his unmarried teenage daughter’s pregnancy came as a shock.
The Bishop, whose congregation stands at about 30,000 members, admitted that the news of his daughter’s pregnancy was difficult but “love overrides everything.” Despite the pressure, Jakes stood by his daughter — keeping her as his chief concern — and not his image.
Eventually, Sarah got married to Robert Henson, an NFL player whom she divorced four years later. Currently, Malachi’s mum is married to Toure Roberts with whom she pastors The ONE church, LA.

But what I hope to be is a representation of a voice that I think is not heard much anymore, A voice of young individuals trying to find their way in not only their community but in the world. A voice of a person who isn’t 100% sure of the future. A voice of a person who often doesn’t fit into society’s box or expectations. A voice of a person whose biggest critic is often themselves.”
