Pastor Max started the message with a story of his shaky left thumb, how it caused him concerns and how he learnt to ignore it after a visit to the neurologist assured him that it was nothing to worry about. We may have something right now in our life that is shaking. It may be your future, maybe your faith, your family, your health your finances, friends etc.
Pastor Max reminded us that although it is a shaky world out there, we could use some unshakable hope. The pandemic period is one of great worry and despair. A lot of things are happening and people are trying to respond in the best way that they can. In America, the statistics is showing that the suicide rate has spiked since the pandemic. This is regardless of the fact that the age we find ourselves has a lot of things entertaining us, yet people are falling into depression.
He added that amidst the many answers to why there is increase in the suicide rate, one answer is that people are giving up due to lack of hope. He tells us that as our society has become increasingly secularistic, secularism sucks the hope out of a society.
It is a fact that sometimes the world is not good but God is inviting us to have a different approach. The advantage that God’s people have is that we hopefully filter our lives through the promises of God. When the whole word is shaking, we stand firm and strong on the promises of God who never fails.
There is a great promise for you in Romans 8:28 which reads – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Build your life on the promises of God, he is with you , he loves you and he’s going to get all of us through these very very difficult days.
