This is a message by Holly Furtick titled “Unlock The Power of Prayer” where she teaches that prayer is one of the most powerful tools that God has given us. She said it helps us connect with Him and she has been learning that prayer is less about bringing her wishlist to God, and more about seeking Him out in her everyday life. She said God often has so much more for us than what we are asking for.
Teaching that prayer is not passive, Holly Furtick took to Instagram to write:
“I think one of the most powerful and under-utilized weapons we have in our life today is prayer. We are living in a spiritual battlefield every day and Paul tells us in Ephesians 6 (you have probably heard this before) to “put on the full armor of God” but don’t miss what he says next in verse 18.
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Prayer is not passive. It doesn’t always have to take place in a quiet spot by yourself at the start or end of the day (although it’s great to have some of that time too). Prayer is a weapon against the enemy. Paul tells us to “be alert”, on guard, always paying attention and looking for what to pray for.
Prayer can be a positive affirmation that you say out loud. It can be a cry for strength. Can be a moment of gratitude. It can be a time when you remember someone who is struggling.
I stumbled across this quote last week from one of my heroes, Corrie Ten Boom, and I found it so encouraging as we face all the suffering in our world right now. She said “The wonderful thing about praying is that you leave a world of not being able to do something and enter God’s Realm where everything is possible. He specializes in the impossible. Nothing is too great for His almighty power. Nothing is too small for His love.”
Let’s let this challenge us to keep prayer at the forefront of our minds this week. Let’s make prayer the first place we turn, not something we save for the end of the day.”
