Pastor John Gray : Family Dinner

Today we bring you another message from Pastor John Gray which is titled “Family Dinner”.  The text for the message is from the book of Luke Chapter 14 verse 15 which tells the story of the great feast.

Pastor John starts with telling us that Thanksgiving is a time of celebration, reflection and solemn remembrance of how good God has been to you. It is also a time for family to encourage and exhort one another.

Take a look at the last 12 months of your life and see that in spite of every single thing that challenged you, you are still here. The situation in your life may not be ideal but you are still here.

Pastor John pointed out that the reason you are alive is because there is a purpose. God does not allow anything on earth unless there is a purpose. Whenever that purpose is done, God removes it from the Earth.

God does not do things superfluously, everything that he does has Intentionality and purpose.  In the last 12 months, the good and the bad, he meant for them to happen and he knew that they would happen. Even the mistakes we made were all factored into the equation.

He went on to encourage the church that whatever loss we encountered in the past year, should not be looked at from the place of deficit and brokeness. Instead, we should look at it through the lens of the beauty of the love and the memories that were cultivated.

Pastor John urged us to remember that God is not a Santa Claus. He is not obligated to give you what you want but he is going to supply your needs according to his riches in glory. Therefore, if God does not show up when you want and how you want, stay in position. He said that we should constantly maintain the position of worship, gratitude, faith and also remembrance.

Speaking further, he pointed out that the reason we pass through fiery trials is because God wants us to be prepared before he presents us to the world for consumption. That way anyone who dines on the experience of your life will come back for seconds.

According to the scripture text, the people who were invited to the feast they all had an excuse. What is your excuse, that you haven’t given God your all. You and I ought to be grateful that you have been invited to dine with God. Even if you do not have the right clothes or come from the right place, God still wants you to come to the dinner/feast.

The beauty of this dinner is that for every seat, God knows your appetite, food allergies, things that will cause you to bloat etc. He will never put anything on the table that will make you sick. That table that God has set for you has appetite and your destiny in mind.
