Pastor John Gray of Relentless Church has slammed how Haitians are being treated at the American border saying he is ‘sick of it’ The husband of Aventer Gray and the father of John Gray IV and Theory Aspyn Gray also called on fellow pastors to speak out.
Taking to Instagram, the pastor and singer posted pictures from the border and wrote:
“Let me ask you a question? What would make a human Use split reigns or attempt to corral another human while on horseback? In America. In 2021? How is this okay? And before you start talking about them illegally crossing the border, please be clear: unless you are Native American or a Moor (do your research), your ancestors immigrated to this country. And they were welcomed. “bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free.” This is inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. The beautiful people of Haiti have gone through hell. Earthquakes and famines and coups. Death and chaos abound. They’re humans. If you have to detain them do so in a humane way. AND THANK YOU TO OUR BRAVE BORDER PATROL AGENTS WHO RISK THEIR LIVES TO PROTECT THIS NATION. THEY DESERVE TO GO HOME EVERY NIGHT! But I’m talking about the few agents who would engage in such horrific behaviors. You don’t lasso people. This is wrong. And the silence of the highest levels of this government-and more sadly-the American evangelical church is DEAFENING. We are at a point of no return. When this type of behavior is not immediately rejected/and punished, it says to black and brown humans attempting to find a better life here that not only are you NOT welcome, you’re not human. America is supposed to be better than this. And WHERE IS THE JUSTIFIABLE OUTRAGE from all these Jesus preaching pastors? What scripture gives us the right to be silent on such atrocities? I’m sick of it.”
