Shawn Johnson is an American pastor and author. He is the lead pastor of Red Rocks Church and is very passionate about transforming lives.
Biography
Shawn Johnson was born on February 26, 1972. There is not much information on his background and family. However, Fifteen years ago, Shawn Johnson was a suicidal drug abuser working in Hollywood.
Johnson had always wondered if God could ever be a part of his broken life. Fortunately for him, finding God was not that difficult. But he had a hard time getting closer to God.
Three weeks after giving his life to God, he relapsed and almost overdosed. He wanted to be closer to God, but he just did not know how to get there. As a result, his faith eventually floundered. He didn’t know what steps he should take to move closer to God. Embracing spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible study, healthy relationships, sharing his testimony, serving, and giving was a foreign concept to him; and therefore out of reach.
Family Life
Pastor Shawn Johnson is married to Jill Johnson. The couple got married on October 21, 1998. He and his wife Jill have three active sons—Ethan, Austin, and Ashton—and the family lives in Denver, Colorado.
Ministry
Today, Shawn is the lead pastor of Red Rocks Church in Golden, Colorado, one of the fastest-growing churches in the country according to Leadership Network. Red Rocks Church is a multi-site church in Colorado, Texas, and Belgium.Â
Johnson and his wife Jill helped launch it in 2005. From its humble beginnings in a theme park, Red Rocks Church has grown to include nine different campuses and has been on Outreach magazine’s Fastest Growing Churches and Largest taking part Churches lists many times.
At Red Rocks, he regularly encounters people who (like him) have had mountaintop experiences with God, but then crashed and burned because they did not know how to move closer to Him. Time and time again, he has seen that his post-conversion experience is not an anomaly.
However, it appeared he had it all together, but it was not so. He was also struggling in silence with anxiety and depression, suffering from debilitating panic attacks. He thought that it would never end and that he will spend the rest of his life in excruciating pain.
His miracle however came the day he ended up sobbing and screaming on the side of the road. He had to be brought home by his wife and two friends, who removed all potential weapons from his house while he sat with his head in his hands, begging God for a miracle. After his healing, it prompted him to write his second book to encourage many people who were in the same condition.

Pastor Johnson is the author of two best-selling books:
Transit: Taking You Closer To God, which was published on August 1, 2014. In Transit, Shawn shares his personal journey in growing closer to God, uncovering disciplines that were critical to that journey, and invites each of us to ignite (or re-ignite) an authentic relationship with God, one that actually changes our lives today.
The second book is Attacking Anxiety: From Panicked and Depressed to Alive and Free which was published on February 15, 2022.Â
In the book Attacking Anxiety, Pastor Johnson;
- exposed the lies that lead toward isolation and replaced them with the truths that are essential for survival;
- revealed the things that most people don’t realize are adding more anxiety and depression to their lives and replacing them with the wisdom and support that lead to true freedom;
- explains what to do when you, or someone you love is in the middle of a panic attack, and
- guides you through what you need to know, what you need to do, what you need to stop doing, and what you need to remember in order to attack anxiety and depression.Â
