Pastor Steven Furtick: Focus Your Faith

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Steven Furtick titled, “Focus Your Faith.” The text for the message is from Joshua 1:7–11.

On this Sunday service, Pastor Steven teaches us that we face difficult situations, such as recovering from a heartbreak or seeking freedom from an addiction, in our lives. We have to know that when we are facing a hard time, that’s not the end of our story. We might think that God could have junked us and just written us off, but he didn’t, and there is a reason for that.

If you’re breathing, there’s a reason for everything going on in your life. God wants you to be successful wherever you go, so keep the book of the law always on your lips and meditate on it day and night so that you may be careful in everything you do. The word of God is provided for us so that we can be guided in every area of our lives. Fear comes first when something changes in your life, and then comes discouragement. We have to focus on our faith when fear comes, because with faith, we can trust God. God told Joshua to trust in him, and that is what helped him lead the people of God into the promise land.

We often take God for granted for the good things he has done for us, and we only remember the ones he did not do. If God made you do 50 push-ups before every breath he gave you, you’d start thanking him for each breath. God does not want us to take him for granted, and he loves us. God loves us; maybe that’s why you survived everything because he was with you. It’s true that he was the only reason we made it through. We are to give him praise for being with us, and we are to focus on our faith and not on our fear.
