Teaching on ‘Beta Blessing’ , Elevation Church took to Instagram to write:
“Talk about a beta blessing, this loading dock was it.
Last week Pastor @stevenfurtick taught us about beta blessings — the things God does in your life that at first you’re not sure if it’s a blessing because it’s in “beta” mode, how sometimes you have to set out with a word from God not knowing all the details.
In July 2007, Elevation was just over a year old and Pastor Steven felt that God was calling us to do ministry in an empty warehouse available in Matthews, North Carolina. It was exactly the size and location for what we believed could be our first permanent church building, effectively also helping capacity at our overflowing two portable locations that met in local high schools.
A lease agreement was close to being reached, and to celebrate, staff and volunteer leaders planned to load up buses and go pray for what God would do at the future location. Just before that, though, another vendor in the strip mall blocked the lease, a right they had against new tenants.
Rather than canceling the event, Pastor Steven still rallied everyone together, piled in the buses, and prayed at the loading docks of the empty warehouse. It wasn’t the prayer of celebration that had been anticipated earlier that day — now it was a prayer of faith for what we knew God had called us toward.
Today, that warehouse is our Elevation Matthews campus, and the accompanying strip mall is the office headquarters for our global ministry.
God isn’t waiting for you at a future destination. He’s with you now. Shift your mind to see things in your life that are in development — not as bad, but in beta.”
