Pastor Touré Roberts delivered this new sermon and message titled “The Power of Clarity” on Sunday January 10 2021 as part of the new series ‘Staring Over’ and it is not a sermon you will want to miss. Commenting on year 2020 and 2021, Pastor Toure Roberts wrote on Instagram:
“As I literally watch the sun set on 2020, I’m overwhelmed with so many emotions it’s hard to type.
I could have never imagined all that would befall our world this year, and seemingly out of nowhere. Our universe shifted on its axis — multiple times. I experienced heartbreaking losses and consoled thousands through their unique pain while trying to manage my own.
The most mundane tasks became major missions in an effort to avoid the virus and escape the hate that was stirred by many, some even in high places.
There was some loss in business and some of my dreams were temporarily placed on hold — but in the midst of it all I cannot deny that God has been good.
I will not curse this year, although the pain has been real. Although I empathize with those who do, I can’t bring myself to say f%k 2020. Although the weight and the war has been intense, there’s a part of me that knows deep down, that I’m better because of 2020.
I’m stronger, my endurance is up and my compassion is at a level I’d never seen before. I got to see God preserve me in ways I didn’t know he could. I saw His strength manifest in me when I felt the weakest.
I will not let 2020 steal my “Hallelujah!”
As I step into 2021, I will offer the praise of a survivor, while I utter prayers for all who suffer.
The prophet Habakkuk put it this way:
“Though the fig tree may not blossom,
Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls—
Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
