Pope Francis Diagnosed With respiratory Infection

Pope Francis was diagnosed with a respiratory infection that would require him hospitalized for some days, the Vatican disclosed.

The Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni revealed in a statement on Wednesday that Pope Francis’ health is challenged. He went further to disclose that the pontiff recently complained of some respiratory difficulties. He also let known that the Pope had gone for check-ups yesterday at Rome Hospital where Popes are treated.

“In recent days Pope Francis complained of some respiratory difficulties and this afternoon he went to Policlinico A. Gemelli for some medical checks.” Matteo Bruni stated, adding that the result showed a respiratory infection that would require hospitalization. “The outcome of these [tests] showed respiratory infection (excluding covid-19 infection) that will require a few days of appropriate hospital medical therapy.” He said.

Pope Francis was taken to the hospital for check-ups after his usual Wednesday General Audience in  St Peter’s Square. It, however, was disclosed that the visit and tests were scheduled. “The  Holy Father has been at Gemilli since this afternoon for some previously scheduled tests,” Bruni had reported.

Furthermore, Bruno said that the Pontiff was thankful for people’s expressions of concern towards him amid the Health Challenge. “Pope Francis is touched by the many messages received and expresses his gratitude for the closeness and prayers. He said

Consequently, the president of the Italian Episcopal Conference, said on behalf of the Italian Bishops in a statement on Wednesday that Catholic Bishops in Italy are praying for Pope Francis’ quick recovery. ” I’m wishing the Holy Father a speedy recovery, the presidency entrusts to the Lord the doctors and medical staff who, with professionalism and dedication, care for him and all patients.” It said.
