Pope Francis Expresses Proximity to Ecuador Earthquake Victims

Pope Francis expresses proximity to victims of the strong earthquake that hit Ecuador and Peru on Saturday night. Customary to the Vatican City head, he expressed his concern and closeness to the persons affected by the strong earthquake that struck Southern Ecuador and Northern Peru. Vatican News reported  Pope expressed closeness to those affected by the earthquake during the Church’s Angelus address yesterday.

Consequently, Pope took to his Twitter handle to disclose the latest development and its effects. He went on to express his closeness to the Ecuadorian people. At the same time, assuring his prayers for those who died and afflicted as a result of the earthquake.
“Yesterday in Ecuador, an earthquake caused deaths, injuries, and considerable damage. I am near to the Ecuadorian people and I assure you of my prayer for the deceased and for all suffering” He wrote

A devastating earthquake of 6.8 magnitude according to the U.S Geological Survey reports on Saturday night shook Southern Ecuador and Northern Peru. The quake was reported to have centered off the Pacific coast. About 50 miles south of Guayaquil. Consequent to the incident, lives were disclosed to be claimed and several properties were damaged.

One victim was reported to have died in Peru and 14 persons in Ecuador. A source had it also that not fewer than 126 persons sustained Injuries. Ecuador’s emergency response report reveal that many were still trapped under rubble.

It is without a doubt that extending concerns to disaster victims has become a tradition to the Catholic head. While according to the Vatican news report, he continuously prays for the Ukraine earthquake victims, he also expressed his concern for Malawi cyclone victims and lots more.
