Pope Francis Sympathizes With  Greece Train Crash Victims

Pope Francis sympathizes with the victims of the fatal train accident which occurred in Tempi Greece a few days back.  The Catholic church head, bishop of Rome and sovereign of the Vatican City States has on a Twitter post, poured out his heart over the victims of the fatal train accident that occurred in Greece.

The Catholic head, in his post, sympathized with the train crash victims. He wrote heartwarming words of comfort to the victims. He however made known that some victims of the victims were students..

“These past few days, my thought has often gone to the victims of the train accident that happened in Greece. Many were young students. I am praying for the deceased. I am near the wounded and their relatives. May our Lady comfort them.”  He wrote.

Let’s call to mind that on 28th February 2023, Greece recorded its most fatal rail disaster in history. Two Greece trains, the intercity 62 (IC62) passenger train and an Intermodal freight train involved in a head-on collision. This however occurred at  the south of Tempi valley in Thessaly Greece.

Consequently, It was reported that a total number of 354 passengers were involved in the crash. In addition, approximately 250 persons were rescued. The report further had it that the disaster claimed  57 lives. While 85 people sustained fatal injuries, 10 persons were found missing. Following the disaster, Greece railway workers embarked on a one-day strike, blaming the government for negligence.

Consequent to the pope’s tweet, people had in their numbers offered their individual condolences to the victims and their families via the comment section. One person wrote “Thank You Holiness. Together in prayer,” another wrote “Love and prayers for all hurting from this terrible tragedy,”  another wrote  ” I also pray for all of them”
