Pastor Rich whose full name is Richard Peterson Wilkerson Jr. comes from a substantial Christian background. He comes from four generations of pastors on both sides of his family. His second cousin was David Wilkerson, author of the Christian classic The Cross and the Switchblade.
Wilkerson is the son of the Robyn and Rich Wilkerson Sr, who run Trinity Church, a megachurch in Miami that is part of the Assemblies of God. However, he did not encounter God until the age of 17. This encounter turned out to be the starting point of Rich surrendering and submitting to, not just following Jesus, but answering the call.

After graduating university and getting married, Rich and his wife, DawnCheré, arrived in Miami to work for Rich’s parents at Trinity Church.
Rich led the Trinity’s young adult gathering, called Rendezvous from 2007 to 2015. The attendance quickly grew from twelve people to more than 1,000. Although the event is still subsisting to this day, Rich and his wife now pastor their own church. The church is called Vous (short for Rendezvous).
In 2014 Wilkerson officiated at the marriage of one of America’s most popular couple, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Kanye had first come to a Vous service after being invited by Chris Julian, who co-owns LeBron James’s Miami boutique where Kanye shopped, and who attended Trinity. The aftermath is, the press coverage of the wedding led to Wilkerson and DawnCheré becoming popular both in Christian and in the secular community.
The Oxygen television network created a reality show called “Rich In Faith” centered on the couple that ran for ten episodes in 2015 and 2016.
