Ruth Chou Simmons was born in Taiwan on October 5, 1975. Her family moved to the United States when she was one year old. There isn’t much information available about her family.
Ruth has always been interested in art. However, because she came from a traditional Chinese family, she did not pursue that desire right away. She did, however, graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in Fine Arts.

Ruth put her art degree on hold for nearly a decade when she and her husband decided to create a baby.

Ruth also wanted to be a missionary. She intended to spend the rest of her life abroad due to her graduate studies at seminary. However, the Lord opted to use her words and art to first preach the gospel to her children and later online, via her blog GraceLaced.
