Sarah Jakes Roberts posted this throwback picture of herself at 14 after she gave birth to her first child. The daughter of Bishop TD Jakes who is married to Pastor Toure Roberts shared the picture and wrote:
“Sometimes I don’t realize how young I was when I had my child until I see a photo. I was 14 in this picture. I kept thinking that if I just became an adult and finally found my own sense of stability that we would be okay.
I didn’t realize that every time I started something new I would go back to being this girl. Unsure sometimes, confused sometimes, but always trying and determined.
Whether you’re starting a business, writing a book, pursuing your degree, or just trying to survive a pandemic sometimes you hold on to what you have with sadness in your eyes and the smallest glimmer of hope on your lips.
Keep going. Keep trying. Keep growing. Keep learning. Just remember you’re not striving for external signs of stability, but rather internal security.
May you finally begin to confront what’s in you so that God can reveal where the treasure is within. ”
