Shepherd Bushiri meets with former Malawian president, Dr. Bakili Muzi who recognized his response to Malawian Flood victims.
Shepherd Bushiri has in an  Instagram post disclosed his visit to the former Malawian president who served the country from 1994 to 2004. He however stated that it was an honor to have met with him. “I had the great honor of meeting with the former president of Malawi, His excellency DR. Bakili Muluzi, who led Malawi from 1994 to 2004,” he wrote.
Bushiri went on to reveal that Muluzi had invited him and his team to commend them on assisting the government respond to Malawi flood victims. “As Malawi’s Ambassador of Goodwill, he invited me and my team to appreciate and encourage us on the work we have been doing, to complement the government’s efforts in responding to the effects of tropical Cyclone Freddy, which has killed and displaced thousands in the country.” Bushiri wrote.
Bushiri further thanked  Muluzi for his words of encouragement. Adding that the visit has encouraged him to do more. “I must also underline that I have been immensely encouraged to do more, and I agree with the words of our president, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, who keeps reminding all of us of this, ‘let us hold hands together and do more to help” he stated.
“As a religious leader,” Bushiri conclusively beseeched, “I appeal to the church, regardless of our affiliations, to stand up as an individual and institutional level and support!”
Following the March 2023 Tropical Cyclone Freddy which struck Malawi, bringing along with it heavy floods, the Malawian pastor who had foreseen the disaster visited the affected areas after which he adopted over 8 camps where he distributed relief material, including food items, money, and helicopter to deliver the items.
