Steve Dixon Sermons – Gethsemane

Steve Dixon Sermons Gethsemane

The Hillsong Church brings us a new message by Pastor Steve Dixon which is titled “Gethsemane”. The text for the message is taken from the book of Matthew 26:4

In today’s message, Pastor Steve teaches the way we can handle the tough stuff. The Jesus way of dealing with difficult times. If you think life is hard think about what Jesus had to face. Judas betrayed Jesus, he was one of the inner circle.

At Gethsemane, Jesus faced disappointment three times. he begged his friends to pray with him and three time he found them snoring. He faced abandonment and rejection and they are a tough thing to go through. Jesus was also denied. All  these affected Jesus because he showed his humanity. In the book of Matthew 24;36, we see Jesus being overwhelmed.

A lot of us are overwhelmed by the situations in our life but what we do in those moments is what counts. Jesus survived the oil press and so we can. Why is the oil press important, it the only way to produce the freshest oil. The pressing produces the right result if we submit to the process. we may feel pressed but that is the only way we produce the best.

There are five steps that Jesus took while dealing with the tough stuff

1. He went to his customary place of prayer. Do you have a secret place of prayer

2.  He went there with three disciples. This tells us that it is not good to be alone in the times of distress.

3.  He went the last few steps alone. When you are dealing with the big stuff, it is only you that can make the decisions despite the encouragement.

4. Jesus agreed to drink the cup of agony. He never asked for a way but he asked that the will of his father be done.

What do we do when we are going through the tough stuff? Take the steps that our Jesus did.
