Steven Furtick: Don’t Copy That

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Steven Furtick titled, “Don’t Copy That.” Pastor Steven teaches us that God has given us permission to be different and do things differently. God wants us to do it differently if we keep trying to copy what we did before and keep doing things out of frustration. We should not copy other people. God wants us to be different. We can’t copy other people and do what God has designed us to do.

As teenagers, we must not do what other teenagers are doing in order to be popular. As parents, we don’t have to copy the way everybody else raises their kids because God has given us different children from theirs. You have the authority to deviate from tradition in any way that does not serve your calling. We live in a culture that worships our kids at the expense of our families. Everyone must follow the instructions God gave them.

God created all of us differently, and he expects us to behave differently. We have to learn how to read the Bible for ourselves; we should not wait for a professional Bible reader. We are not to take unnecessary advice from the wrong people. Be careful to obey the word of God and not some tradition that someone has made up. We should be strong and courageous to do the things that God has put in our hearts. We are meant to be different; we have to stop copying crazy things that people are doing because we don’t want to be weird.

Make sure you don’t copy the condemnation that others have heaped on you. Be careful what you copy in your heart, for it will set the direction of your life. Meditation sets direction, and we should meditate on what God has spoken to us, the word of God. We have to copy what God has said to you. We should start meditating on the Word of God.
