Steven Furtick: God, I’m Scared

Pastor Steven Furtick shares one of his sermons titled “God, I’m Scared.”

Pastor Furtick teaches us in this message that when we are scared in our lives, we should call on God. He said that some of the stuff you’re fighting with in your faith is not It’s not a lie, and that’s what makes it so scary. It’s a fact that all of us go through bad situations in our lives, and we can’t overlook them. He said that when his dad was diagnosed with ALS, he knew he would die. It was a fact. He prayed for healing in his dad’s health, but the healing didn’t happen, and all he was left with were the facts.

Pastor Steven said that he doesn’t feel like he has the right to tell you not to be afraid and to believe that because he struggles with belief himself. We all have our crosses to bear. This story gives us a great gift of perspective to know that even when it was that bad, look at what Jesus said to Jairus. “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” This is a powerful principle and a dynamic of faith that works in your life any time you choose to apply it. As Christians, we have to learn how to control our minds in every situation. It’s crazy how far your mind can go.

We have to know that Jesus did not tell us not to be afraid only in the most desperate situations; what he said has implications in your daily life. Do you know what doesn’t happen in the Scriptures? When Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid; just believe,” he does not argue with the facts. He calls Jairus into faith. When we face facts and bad situations in our lives, it can be heartbreaking and cause us to lose faith. We have to trust God and believe in him.
