In this message, we are going to learn that God brings us into seasons where He tests our willingness to reset and do things differently. It’s a setup for what he wants to do next. In “Let God Give You A Reset,” we get permission to take a deep breath and try another way. We have to learn the skill of reset ability, which is the ability to reset our minds and be better. The interesting thing about John 21 is that you have a minor reset embedded in a major reset. Peter is in need of restoration, and although Jesus has appeared to him, he still doesn’t know the direction of the next season of his life. Is he going to be a fisherman again? or is God going to use him to do something?
After Jesus died, Peter went back to fishing. He went back to the place where he originally received his call as God’s disciple, symbolizing that sometimes we need to go back to a place where we experience God when we feel dry. Jesus used Peter to be one of the leading apostles in building the church. That’s an incredible future that Peter, who was a fisherman, had ahead of him. God is transforming Peter from a fisherman to a shepherd, not vocationally but in terms of his values. Before Jesus can take Peter through three different times, “Do you me? Feed my sheep.” When God tries to reset us and make us better, are we going to let him? We have to reset to the right side.
