Steven Furtick: When It’s Okay To Quit

Today, we bring you a message from Pastor Steven Furtick titled, “When It’s Okay To Quit.” Pastor Furtick teaches us that if it was God who called you, you don’t get to quit, but if it’s keeping you from being what God wants you to be, then you have to quit. As a Christian, anything that keeps you from being what God has called you to be has your permission to quit. Until we come to Christ and receive his power in our lives and his spirit inside of us, we can’t change anything.

Jesus Christ died and gave us salvation; Jesus Christ’s salvation has given us permission to live a better life through his blood. We have been given permission to come boldly before the throne of God. The problem is that most of us are more loyal to our old selves than we are excited about our true selves. As Christians, we are more committed to our limits than we are to our potential.

The moment we start defending the way we’ve always been, it’s fine if we acknowledge our past, but we should not become advocates of our own weaknesses. If you do something that is not approved by God, you will still encounter mistakes. We have to get rid of our old selves, but sometimes it’s really hard to do so because our old selves have been part of us for a long time. We have to get rid of our anger and choose to be peacemakers. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s really important.

Do you have any idea what you could become if you don’t make the right decisions to improve yourself? We have to receive the permission of the Holy Spirit, who lives inside of us and was sent to help us become a better person. If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them, and it will ruin your life. We have to work on ourselves and break the bad habits like having a temper, not asking for help, and not being a giver. We would reinvest the creativity we put into defending what we can’t do; if you can reinvest it, you can do something great in your life. We have to get in agreement with God about our potential and be great.
