“October is Pastor Appreciation month. And today I want to appreciate my pastor.
When I realized I was going to marry a pastor, in the back of my mind I wondered if there would come a day when ministering to other people would take priority over our family.
Growing up in the ministry, I’d met a lot of other pastors’ wives and pastors’ kids who told the narrative that they were sacrificed in the name of ministry. And I held a space for that to happen to me. But here we are 15 years in, 3 kids, multiple campuses, multiple social media streams, books, albums and more sermon series than I can count, and I can say with all honesty that Steven Furtick values his family over it all.
He pastors us first. His dreams for Elevation are not bigger than his dreams for his family. He creates messages that reach into our souls every week, yet he still has time to take me on a date every Thursday, workout with Elijah, watch college football with Graham, and sing Hamilton with Abbey.
