The Constitution of Heaven – John Piper

The Constitution of Heaven – John Piper

In this discussion on The Constitution of Heaven, John Piper unpacks Paul’s amazing summary statement of the Christian life. The question we all must answer is, are we living lives worthy of the gospel?

Some questions to ask as you read and study Philippians 1:27–28:

  1. What do you think a life “worthy of the gospel” looks like (Philippians 1:27)? Does such a life earn salvation?

2. The Greek verb translated “let your manner of life” literally means something like, “live as a citizen.” What place is Paul calling us to live as a citizen of?

3. In the lab, John Piper says that living worthy of the gospel summarizes the entire Christian life. What areas of your life are currently not worthy of the gospel? What areas are?

Word Searches

Word searches are important for a deeper study of the Bible. To conduct one, search for a particular word throughout the Bible to help clarify the meaning of a word and make connections to other Scriptures.

A concordance makes these searches easy as they list words and where each is used in the Bible. Beyond this, you can usually search Bible apps or online texts for instances of where specific words are found throughout the Bible.

In this lab, Pastor John recalled other texts that mentioned being “worthy” of Jesus and was led to Matthew 10:37–38.
