Career

The Walls Group was released on June 11, 2012, by Wall2Wall Entertainment, and peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. Kirk Franklin took notice and signed them to Fo Yo Soul Recordings in partnership with RCA Records.

On September 2, 2014, they released Fast Forward, their debut studio album, on their own label. The album peaked at No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart and at No. 39 on the Billboard 200 chart. Andy Kellman of AllMusic and Dwayne Lacy of New Release Tuesday both gave the album four out of five stars, and Daniel Cody of Wade-O Radio states, “It’s not stale, it’s not boring, it’s not repetitive, but it’s an exciting and fresh album.”

For their song “Love on the Radio,” the group received a nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. In numerous categories, including Artist of the Year, Group/Duo of the Year, CD of the Year, Contemporary Group/Duo of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, and Music Video of the Year, the quartet was nominated for the 30th Stellar Awards.

It was reported at the start of 2020 that The Walls Group had joined the roster of musicians signed to Warryn Campbell’s “My Block” record label.

Except for Rhea, every member of the group has a partnership with the unaffiliated music website The Session. Each member has performed a song cover. YouTube has received the videos for hosting.

Alic Walls has been releasing and promoting his own solo (and explicit) secular music under the stage name Alic. Between 2020 and 2021, he issued a number of albums.

The Walls Scandal

After a video of gospel artist Darrel Walls of The Walls Group kissing another guy surfaced online over the weekend, identifying him as a member of the LGBTQ community, it quickly became a trending topic on social media.

Late on Saturday night (Nov. 28), a video of Walls and another man conversing and grinning was posted online. Eventually, the two men turn to one another and kiss. The identity of the other man in the video is unknown.

Darrel shared the video on Instagram with his “close friends” list, according to Love B. Scott, who broke the news. However, someone in that group made the video public, and it is now widely available.
