Evangelist Greg Laurie Reacts to Lady Gaga’s Reflections on Spiritual Awakening

Grammy-award-winning pop star Stefani Germanotta, popularly known as Lady Gaga, sparked conversations online after an interview where she discussed her faith and personal struggles emerged on social media.

In the interview, whose source was not revealed but shared on Greg Laurie’s social media, Lady Gaga described herself as a “spiritual religious woman” who prays daily. She opened up about her struggles with chronic pain and how it led to a newfound appreciation for God.

“I realized that I have chronic pain for a reason,” Lady Gaga said. “I don’t mean to be like God gave it to me; I also don’t believe that karma thing where you are sick because you did something bad.”

But I believe that this happened for a reason. I radically accepted that they happened, and I think it happened because God was saying to me. ‘I am going to show you pain, and then you are going to help other people who are in pain because you are going to understand it.'”

“When I talk to God, I say, tell me what to do, tell me what to say, tell me how to say it, and help me see the path, and if you show me that path, I will walk down it.”

Lady Gaga went on to describe her spiritual practice as one of radical acceptance and gratitude, even while suffering. “I will be laying on my porch in pain crying and I will say thank you God for this pain. Thank you. I surrender it to you,” she shared.

Her comments resonated with many, including Harvest Fellowship Church founder, Greg Laurie. Taking to social media, Laurie commended Lady Gaga’s openness and her attitude of gratitude.

“That was really insightful of Lady Gaga to talk about how she believes that God allows this pain in her life,” Laurie said. He acknowledged her rejection of the concept of karma, stating, “That’s a plus.”

Laurie then connected Lady Gaga’s experience with the Bible. “She is practicing gratitude, that is actually biblical,” he said, citing passages from scripture. He also praised her desire to help others who are suffering.

However, Laurie offered a different perspective on finding God’s will. “When Lady Gaga says that she is looking for the path,” he said. “She wants God to reveal the path and then she wants to walk in it. What a great request. Stefani, God has revealed the path to you in the Bible. Jesus says, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but through me.'”

Laurie concluded by encouraging Lady Gaga to turn to the Bible and Jesus Christ for a deeper relationship with God. He shared his own experience of finding solace in faith after the loss of his son.

However, Pastor Laurie’s response wasn’t universally embraced. Some online commenters expressed skepticism about Lady Gaga’s newfound faith, questioning its sincerity. Others, however, echoed Pastor Laurie’s encouragement, applauding Lady Gaga’s vulnerability and openness to God.
