Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts Reflects on Her Transformative Journeys To Africa

Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts expressed her gratitude and sense of blessing for having visited the African continent twice within a single year. She shared how these journeys have been transformative, each filled with profound experiences and divine connections. Embracing the names given to her on her trips—Ugochinyere Ifeoma in Nigeria and Naledi in South Africa—she allowed their meanings to affirm God’s mark on her life and purpose.

In Nigeria, she was bestowed the name Ugochinyere Ifeoma, meaning “God’s Eagle” and “Good Thing.” This name served as a powerful reminder of God’s vision for her life, urging her to soar high and carry His goodness to every corner of the earth. In South Africa, she received the name Naledi, meaning “Star,” which resonated deeply within her, reflecting the light she aims to shine in the world through faith, love, and service.

Sarah Jakes Roberts noted that her team made it a priority to immerse themselves in the culture and history of each city they visited. From the vibrant markets and heartfelt worship services in Nigeria to the breathtaking landscapes and rich traditions of South Africa, every moment testified to God’s incredible creation and the beauty of His people.

However, she acknowledged that their trips were brief, and there was so much more to explore and experience. She expressed her hope and prayer to return to these amazing countries, stay longer, and bring her children to witness and learn from these rich cultural tapestries. It was essential for her children to see and appreciate the diversity and history that shape our global family.

In her message, she thanked her Nigerian and South African brothers and sisters for their warm welcome and the names that now hold a special place in her heart. Their hospitality and love left an indelible mark on her spirit, and she looked forward to the day they would return and deepen these precious connections.
