Potters House Church assistant pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts has taken to social media to pen a heartfelt tribute to her daughter Makenzie, who is celebrating her 15th birthday.
In a heartwarming post, the pastor expressed profound gratitude for her daughter’s impact on her life. Roberts described Makenzie as a brilliant child whose arrival fifteen years ago transformed her world.
“From the first line on my tummy, I knew you were bound to leave your mark,” Roberts shared. “I just didn’t realize how that mark would change my heart. Your life has made me better. On this day 15 years ago, your brilliance invaded my darkness, and I was forever changed.”
She went on to share her daughter’s qualities, including delicacy, fierceness, loyalty, courage, and resilience. Jakes also praised Makenzie’s humility, vulnerability, and infectious joy, characterizing her as a child whose “heart is one of my favorite places to visit.”

Joining in the celebration of Makenzie’s special day is her stepfather, Toure Roberts, who married Sarah in 2014 after her previous marriage with Makenzie’s father, Robert Henson, failed in 2012.
