Second Chance Church Rallies to Aid Hurricane Helen Victims

Pastor Perry Noble of Second Chance Church has issued a call to action to his congregation, urging them to come together and provide relief to those affected by Hurricane Helen in Western North Carolina.

In a social media post, the pastor shared that his church has established a partnership with the Asheville Fire Department to collect essential supplies for hurricane victims.

“Ok @thesecondchancechurch family – it’s time to step up!” the pastor writes. “It has taken several days to connect with “people on the ground” in Western NC. But we were finally able to make a connection with the Asheville Fire Department – and will be collecting items on the list below on Sunday so they can be shipped out Monday morning.”

The items on the donation list include water, nonperishable food, baby supplies, cleaning supplies, hygiene products, pet food, flashlights, batteries, first aid items, plastic utensils, and toilet paper.

Pastor Noble and his famiy have not been immune to the effects of the hurricane. On September 30, he shared on social media that he and his wife, Ripokis have been without power for several days.

Despite the inconvenience, Noble expressed gratitude for their safety and the support they have received from friends and the community.

“It could have been worse,” he wrote. “Our house was not damaged by the storm! We were safe in the storm (and so were our dogs!!) We’ve had so many friends reach out, offering us a place to stay!”

The pastor emphasized the importance of focusing on gratitude during times of hardship and urged others to do the same.

However, on October 2, he shared a video of himself dancing on social media to celebrate the restoration of power, thanking the hardworking individuals at Duke Power for their efforts.

“We finally got our power back on,” he shared. “Major shout out to all of the incredibly hard working people at Duke Power who have worked incredibly hard for so many people!”
