Bernie Kelsey Begins Chemotherapy Following Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis
C3 Church’s longtime leader, Pastor Bernie Kelsey, has begun a five-month course of weekly chemotherapy following a recent ovarian cancer diagnosis.
Bernie’s husband, Mark Kelsey, shared the news on social media, accompanied by heartwarming photos of her in hospital. “Here she goes…brave bernie bear is now 4 weeks post-op and has started 5 months of weekly chemo,” the post reads.
Mark Kelsey expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support they have received from the community. “We are so grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and generosity,” he wrote.
He also acknowledged the generosity of those who have contributed to a GoFundMe campaign established to help offset the costs of Bernie’s medical treatment. “Huge thanks for all your amazingly generous gifts and contributions to the Go Fund Me over the past few weeks,” he wrote.
This news comes three weeks after Mark Kelsey who is actively involved in planting and growing churches globally announced Bernie’s diagnosis on social media.
As Bernie begins this next phase of her treatment, her husband and supporters are hopeful for a positive outcome. “We’re believing for minimal negative side effects and maximum results,” Mark wrote. “We’re trusting God that all cancer is eradicated from her body…total healing!”
Mark has pledged to keep the community updated on Bernie’s progress throughout her chemotherapy journey.
Mark and Bernie who are part of the C3 Church Global have not been left to face their challenge alone. Following Pastor Mark’s announcement of his wife Bernie’s ovarian cancer diagnosis, C3 Church Global immediately called for a worldwide outpouring of support for the couple.
The church emphasized prayer as a primary source of support for the couple. In addition, the church encouraged members to contribute to a GoFundMe campaign established to offset Bernie’s medical costs.
Despite having private health insurance, the church noted that financial support was the most practical way to assist the Kelsey family during this difficult time.
