Brian Houston says Someone known to him Made the ‘ Ladies and Girls Kissing’ Tweet to Embarrass him
Following his initial claim of a hack, Brian Houston, founder of Hillsong Church, now states that a known individual deliberately posted the “ladies and girls kissing” tweet on his social media account to embarrass and discredit him.
Houston claimed that many people can access his social media accounts in a Monday social media post tagged final comment. He noted, however, that his passwords have been changed to prevent similar incidents in the future.
“Final comment: A number of people have had access to my social media accounts,” Houston tweeted. “We have concluded that someone known to me posted an unauthorized tweet in a deliberate attempt to embarrass and discredit me. Password now change.”
In another tweet shortly after, Houston cited the words of Proverbs 19:28: “An unprincipled witness desecrates justice; the mouths of the wicked spew malice.”
Last Tuesday, Houston’s X account tweeted “ladies and girls kissing.” According to Relevant magazine, the post was at 11:41 p.m. Australian Eastern Daylight Time and remained on Houston’s account for 16 minutes before it was removed. At 11:57 p.m., Houston offered a clarification notifying the public that his account was hacked. “I think my Twitter may have been hacked,” Houston reportedly tweeted.
The post however sparked debate online, with some users speculating it was meant as an internet search query.
Last Wednesday, Houston shared a tweet originally posted by a woman claiming to be his assistant. The statement urged users to ignore any recent posts from his account that appeared unusual.
“Thank you for your concern, Ps Brian’s assistant here,” the tweet read. “Rest assured we are working on discovering how Ps. Brian was hacked. Our team has ascertained that someone logged into his account from a location within the USA. We’ve changed his password so here’s hoping they no longer have access. Please disregard anything that seems out of the normal. For your safety remember Pastor Brian does not contact anyone privately.”
